ARMELLINO TO BOARD
Joins Google Chief Technology Advocate
on Board
Morristown,
NJ --- April 14, 2009 – Michael R. Armellino, a veteran financial industry
executive, has been nominated to serve on the board of directors of Armanta, Inc.,
according to an announcement today by Peter J. Chirlian, chief executive
officer.
Armellino
is a retired partner of the Goldman Sachs Group, LP. He spent 25 years with
the company, and was serving as chief executive officer of Goldman’s asset
management division at his retirement. Early in his career, he made a name for
himself as a senior transportation analyst and served in various other
capacities, including partner in charge of research.
“Michael’s
intimate understanding of the issues and opportunities inherent in the
financial sector today make him a valuable addition to Armanta’s Board,”
Chirlian said. “We hope to mine his 25 years of service to help clients better
understand the competitive advantages Armanta’s suite of products brings to the
financial services marketplace, “ he added.
In
addition to the in-house members of the Armanta board, Armellino joins Michael
Jones, Google’s chief technology advocate, as an external director.
A
native of New Jersey, Armellino received his bachelor of science degree in
economics from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business. He is a chartered financial analyst.
Armellino
serves on the board of Canadian National Railway, where he chairs the strategic
planning committee. He also is a board member of Hackensack University Medical
Center Foundation, and on the board of trustees of the Peddie School, Hightstown, N.J. He is actively involved as a senior advisor to the Bergen Volunteer
Medical Initiative, whose mission is to provide healthcare services to those
without insurance coverage.
